Conservatism is a term used to describe political philosophies that favor tradition and gradual change, where tradition refers to religious, cultural, or nationally defined beliefs and customs.  [Wikipedia]

The Republican Party is widely considered conservative.  Conservatism may carry different definitions, but to me, conservatism means: personal responsibility, a minimal role of government, and a political attitude or ideology denoting a preference for individualism.

Conservatism is a philosophy which supports preservation of the heritage of a nation or culture.  Many may say that the Constitution is a "living, breathing document, it changes as our society evolves, and it becomes what we desire it to become."  I for one do not hold to the idea that the founders designed this perfect document with the intent for it to change with the times.

The Preamble states:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America"

The Preamble introduces the document and its purpose.  Eloquent yet simple.  I believe that should the framers had intended the document to change and grow over time, they would not have labored over each of the wonderful words we cherish.
